Having a fantastic party for your little ones doesn’t have to break the bank! With rising costs, we thought it would be helpful to lay out some of our top tips on how to plan a kid’s birthday party on a budget.
Streamlining costs doesn’t have to mean sacrificing an amazing celebration for your kids – it’s just about getting a little more creative. Keep on reading for some kids’ birthday planning inspiration!
Plan strategically
The first thing to do is set your budget – and stick to it! Plan out everything that you will need to cover like food, invites, and party favours (that’s one of the benefits of a Little Farmers party – all costs are included in one package which means no last-minute expenses popping up!).
Also, get organised and plan a strategic time of day and length of party that will ultimately save you some money. Ideally, the best time to host a kid’s party is one finishing between 2-5 PM because at this time guests don’t expect a full meal and instead everyone will look forward to snacks or a light lunch, which will be more budget-friendly.
Keep the menu simple
If you do decide to serve a meal at your party, keep it simple! Not only does having a simple food selection help cut costs of a birthday party but kids also tend to prefer classic party foods like mac and cheese, pizza, or burgers with some crisps and fruit/veg to munch on on the side.
For example, at Little Farmers, our fun farm-themed lunch boxes include simple and nutritious food like sandwiches, fruit, raisins, and juice. Keeping the menu simple will please any fussy kids and will help keep your party on budget.
Get crafty
Getting crafty and using things that you already have is one of the best ways to save money when planning a party. Making your own décor, such as homemade banners, paper link chains, or even a pinata, is a super money-saving tip (bonus is if you’re having a party at Little Farmers as all of these can be brought in to help decorate the space).
It’s also a great idea to try and either make invites yourself or go digital. Instead of spending money on invitations/expensive stationary, get your little one involved and craft homemade invites. Or if you decide to go paperless for even more ease, Little Farmers provides invites you can download online and email out!
Finally, having a craft station at the actual party is also a great way to not only keep the kids entertained but the things they make can also be taken home as party favours after the fun is done.
Buy a party package
